Silicon carbide wafer maker SK Siltron CSS expands production

On July 14, SK Siltron CSS announced that it plans to invest 300 million US dollars to expand silicon carbide wafer manufacturing and R&D capabilities in the United States.

The predecessor of SK Siltron CSS was DuPont's SiC division. In 2019, SK Siltron acquired it for US$450 million. After the acquisition, the number of employees has doubled, and there are currently approximately 130 employees.


SK Siltron is part of South Korea`s SK Group. SK Group`s global annual revenue totals US$119 billion. SK Hynix is the world’s second largest memory chip manufacturer. So far, SK Group has invested billions of US dollars in the United States.
