After discussions with security officials at the Ludwigshafen site, the German chemical group BASF has begun gradually restarting its steam cracking unit. Over the next few days, excess gas will be burned off through combustion.

Previously, due to the interruption of the supply of raw materials, a fire broke out in Beigang, and its steam cracking device was also closed. As a result, integrated plants in the ethylene and propylene production chain have closed or reduced production. According to statistics, a total of 24 factories were closed, including steam crackers. BASF has announced force majeure to purchase naphtha, ethylene and propylene.
