North American composites manufacturer PolyOne has formed a technical partnership with German technology giant Merck KGaA to launch a new technology manufacturing tool called IM3D that enables 3D images to be projected on consumer electronics and packaging to expand global influence force. And it has expanded its production capacity in India.
At a press conference on October 12, PolyOne said that IM3D technology can help manufacturers create images that look like they have depth and structure but have flat surfaces. Creating this effect on the polymer surface requires several necessary processing steps, and 3D images are generated during the injection process. Samples of PolyOne's components produced by IM3D technology will be exhibited at the upcoming K show in Germany.
A production line for special engineering materials has been added to the Indian factory and will be officially launched in January next year. The material is mainly based on engineering resins.
