The UK-China Joint Laboratory of Advanced Building Materials was officially unveiled at the University of London. The laboratory was jointly established by the Chinese General Research Institute of Building Materials Science and University College London, and will jointly lead the low-carbon development of building materials.

When Yao Yan, dean of the China National Building Materials Institute visited the University College London in 2015 with a delegation, the two sides reached an important consensus to jointly build an advanced building materials laboratory. The successful establishment of the Sino-British Joint Laboratory marks a major step forward in the China National Building Materials Internationalization Strategy.
