This is the product produced by NBDF for the HollandseKust West Beta Offshore Wind Project (hereinafter referred to as the HKWB Offshore Wind Project) of the European transmission grid operator TenneT.

 

The total amount of the project exceeds 500 million yuan. "This ultra-high voltage submarine cable project is of great significance for us to expand the European market. It marks that we have gained a firm foothold in front of mainstream European customers with technological innovation and product quality." NBDF said Marketing Director Mr. Hong introduced.

Submarine cables are highly customized products. Not only do they need to transmit large-capacity energy at ultra-high voltages like high-voltage land cables, but also because they are in the deep sea, they must have corrosion resistance and wear resistance on the outside to adapt to tides in different sea areas. , ocean currents, etc.


The HKWB offshore wind power project is an offshore wind power project invested and constructed by the Netherlands National Grid (TenneT) and is part of the Netherlands National Clean Energy Route.

At present, copper conductors are generally used in submarine cables, and TenneT has used newly developed aluminum conductors in this project. "This alone can save the project party about 20% of the cost."

 

The research and development process of new products is not easy. Dr. Zhao, CTO of NBDF, said that the company used at least hundreds of tons of material samples and thousands of meters of cable samples for this project, which has achieved iterative optimization and performance improvement of materials. "We also rely on the National Science and Technology Support Program, the National 863 Program and the National Key R&D Program to solve key technical problems such as the design and manufacture of ultra-high voltage submarine cables, which greatly reduces the risk factor of the project."

 

In March 2022, NBDF successfully delivered the world's first low-frequency submarine cable, which will be used in China's 35kV multi-terminal flexible low-frequency power transmission demonstration project to build a land-island-wind power interconnection system;
