On January 20, 2022, the "Hot-Rolled Anti-Oxidation Coating-Free Hot-Formed Steel" product jointly developed by AGJT Iron and Steel Technology Group, Northeastern University and General Motors China Academy of Sciences is an international initiative, reaching the international leading level, with stable Mass production and supply capacity.

In recent years, with the continuous advancement of global "carbon reduction" and people's increasing expectations for the lightweight and crash-proof safety performance of automobiles, the research and development and application of new steel materials for automobiles have attracted much attention. Products represented by hot-formed steel are mainly used in key parts of automobile body safety due to their high strength and precise formability of auto parts, and have broad market prospects. However, the hot-formed steel currently used in mainstream applications is protected by foreign patents due to the coating raw materials and coating processes, and a large amount of patent fees need to be paid in the process of automobile production and preparation, and the production cost is relatively high.


AGJT teamed up with Northeastern University and General Motors China Academy of Sciences to innovate in alloy system and manufacturing process, breaking through a lot of technical difficulties, and completed the trial production and application verification of industrialized products in only two years.


It is understood that the coating-free hot-forming steel solves the problem of peeling off the oxide scale of the existing hot-forming steel bare plate, and at the same time breaks the foreign patent restrictions, forming China's own coating-free hot-forming steel patent technology, which greatly reduces the production of the automobile industry. At the same time, it will help the global "carbon reduction". After the products are put into production in large quantities, they can be applied to passenger car anti-collision steel beams, sill beams, A-pillars, B-pillars and other fields, greatly improving the utilization rate of raw materials and the overall safety performance of the product, reducing the weight of the whole vehicle, thereby further promoting the process of lightweight automobiles .
