The company`s business development process can be briefly divided into four stages:


Stage one: 

Start-up accumulation: Start from the superconducting wire business.


In January 2003, the Chinese government officially decided to participate in the ITER program (International Thermonuclear Fusion Experimental Reactor Program). The plan requires the use of NbTi and Nb3Sn superconducting wires to manufacture superconducting magnets, and the manufacturing tasks of the wires need to be undertaken by participating countries. However, at that time, no company in China had the capacity to produce NbTi and Nb3Sn superconducting wires, and there was an urgent need to carry out the industrialization of superconducting wires. XAXB began research and commercial production of NbTi and Nb3Sn superconducting wires.

Stage two, 

Horizontal expansion: enter the field of titanium alloys for aviation structures. Since 2005, with the launch of China's new fighter plan, this type of titanium alloy material was still a blank product in China at that time. Since the superconducting core wire in the NbTi wire is finally stretched to 5 microns, and the melting point of Nb and Ti is quite different, the composition and uniformity of the NbTi alloy are much higher than that of the conventional titanium alloy. Therefore, XAXB has been in the market since 2005. On the basis of the mastered NbTi alloy preparation technology, the research and development of high-performance structural titanium alloys for new types of fighter aircraft have been made and breakthroughs have been made.

Stage three,

Rapid development: breakthroughs have been made in a number of superconducting wire manufacturing technologies. In 2010-2011, the NbTi and Nb3 Sn superconducting wires produced by the company passed the comprehensive evaluation of the ITER organization, and began to supply ITER in batches in 2012. In addition, on the basis of the successful development of superconducting wires for ITER, the company successfully developed high-end MRI-specific NbTi superconducting wires in 2013 through continuous innovation, which has passed the verification of major international MRI manufacturers GE and SIEMENS, and is currently available in batches.

Stage four and second expansion: 

enter the field of superalloys. In order to break the technical blockade of China's superalloy industry by foreign countries and realize the localization of superalloy materials in high-end fields such as aero engines and gas turbines, the company began to carry out engineering research on high-performance superalloys in 2014. After years of market research and technical reserves, the company has invested in the construction of a major special high-performance nickel-based superalloy project for "manufacturing aero-engines and gas turbine compressors" relying on the perfect production, R&D, and quality system of high-end titanium alloys for aviation and aerospace. Its main products are nickel-based superalloy bars such as GH4169, GH4738, and GH4698, and high-temperature alloy master alloys such as FGH4097, which are mainly used to manufacture aero-engine and gas turbine compressors, turbines and other disc forgings, as well as rotating parts such as blades.

At present, the company's products mainly include three categories: high-end titanium alloy materials, superconducting products and high-performance superalloy materials. Among them, high-end titanium alloy materials mainly include bars, wires and forging billets; superconducting products mainly include niobium-titanium ingots, niobium-titanium superconducting wires, niobium-tin superconducting wires and superconducting magnets; high-performance high-temperature alloys The materials mainly include deformed superalloys, casting and powdered superalloy master alloys. The company's products are positioned as "internationally advanced, China's blanks, and addressing urgent needs", and have always served the national strategy, making up for the "shortcomings" of key materials required for the manufacture of China's new fighter planes, large aircraft, helicopters, aero engines, and ships. At present, the company is one of the main R&D and production bases for high-end titanium alloy rods and wires and forging billets in China; it is currently the only low-temperature superconducting wire manufacturer in China, and the only niobium-titanium ingot, superconducting wire, and superconducting magnet in the world. It is also one of the key R&D and production enterprises of high-performance superalloy materials in China.
