Recently, AU Optronics held the opening ceremony of the sixth-generation LTPS (low-temperature polysilicon) LCD panel factory. The move marked the beginning of mass production of the third and largest LTPS production line in the world.
AUO Chairman Peng Shuanglang said that the LTPS panel is a high-end technology. It only took 4 months for AUO to install and light up the first panel, and it took 7 months to start mass production. . AUO Kunshan's initial planned monthly production capacity of glass substrates is 25,000 pieces, and it is targeting high-end smart phones and NB panels. The production capacity has been contracted by customers next year, and it is expected to create 30 billion yuan in production value in one year.
Nevertheless, Peng Shuanglang said that although AUO has related technology patents for OLED products, it will not rush to produce OLED panels in large quantities at present.
AUO's general manager Cai Guoxin said that the Kunshan plant is the first overseas front panel plant of AUO to implement the latest LTSP technology. Compared with the industry's LTPS panel process, it requires 12 masks. The Kunshan plant only requires 9 masks, which not only reduces costs It is also an increase in production capacity. And build a one-stop production line in the factory, the process covers the front TFT array and color filters, in-cell touch, mid-cell and rear module, etc., will produce high-end smartphone panels, in-cell Touch panel and laptop panel products.
